Why You Should Order Custom Police Patches for Your Department

Connecting With the Community Using Custom Police Patches

In October of 2019, the Edinburg Police Department wore custom police patches designed specifically for breast cancer awareness. The pink police patches were created in the same shape and size as the department’s official police uniform patches. The only change is the pink thread colors that stand out beautifully against the dark police uniform sleeves.

The goal of wearing these patches is to raise awareness in the community and to show support for everyone that is battling the disease. In an interview with KGBT, Chief Cesar Torres of the Edinburg Police Department said, “I do have two family members currently that are battling cancer. We have family that has passed away from cancer. There are a lot of survivors, and we have people that have gone. We want to remember those and the families that are affected by this tragic disease."

Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to design custom police badge patches for awareness campaigns like breast cancer awareness and Relay for Life, as well as community events and initiatives.

What we’ve seen is that custom police patches help different departments connect with the community, encourage solidarity among officers, and raise awareness for important causes.

Does Your Department Need Custom Police Patches?

There are several reasons why police departments create custom police patches. Some are designed to raise awareness for important causes, like the Edinburg Police Department’s pink police patches, and other times, patches are designed to bring team members together by cultivating camaraderie.

Official police uniform patches like these are a symbol of the department, making them a source of shared identity and camaraderie. They come in just about every shape and size that you can think of, and the artwork oftentimes incorporates special nods to local history and culture.

We’ve worked with numerous police departments to create custom police badge patches in both full color and subdued colors, as well as custom versions of their regular uniform patches like the pink Edinburg Police Department patches.

However, not all of the custom police patches we help design are official police uniform patches. Some are custom made for events or fundraisers that take place outside of the department.

Support Your Police Survivors patches and memorial patches by signature patches

These custom police patches were designed in memory of loved ones. Support for Police Survivors is a program that helps families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. The custom police patches designed for their annual M.C. Run help raise money and awareness for the program.

The black and purple police badge patch was designed in memory of Aggie Stillman. Even after five years, members of the police force and the community are still wearing these patches to keep memories of her alive.

These types of police patches honor the men and women who have suffered or lost their lives in service to the community. Custom police patches might seem small, but they can have a big impact when used for the right reasons.

Celebrating Community and Camaraderie Using Custom Police Patches

Creating a special patch in honor of your team is the perfect way to build loyalty and friendship, and using the patches outside the department at special fundraisers and rallies helps create ties between the department and the community.

Looking back at the Edinburg Police Department’s pink October patches illustrate this idea best. The patches help create a unified vision for the department, they raise awareness for an important cause, and they show support for the people fighting cancer.
